News India Live, Digital Desk: There is a big news for the people troubled by the increasing population of stray dogs in Uttar Pradesh and the incidents of biting that happen every day. After the instructions of the Supreme Court, now the Yogi government has prepared a big action plan to deal with this problem. The government is going to run a campaign for sterilization and vaccination of stray dogs in all the big cities of the state.
What is the government’s plan?
Under this scheme, ‘Animal Birth Control’ (ABC) centers will be set up in all the municipal corporations and municipal councils of the state with a population of more than 5 lakh. The main work of these centers will be to catch the dogs, sterilize them and vaccinate them against anti-rabies. After this the dogs will be released back to the same area from where they were caught.
Now every dog will have its own ‘record’
The most special thing about this scheme is that after sterilization and vaccination, a microchip will be installed in every dog. Through this chip, a record of every dog will be prepared, which will make it easy to find out which dog has been sterilized and which has been vaccinated. This will help in running this campaign in a better way.
Who will do this work?
The responsibility of this entire campaign has been handed over to the Urban Development Department and Animal Husbandry Department. Municipal commissioners in cities will be the nodal officers of this scheme. Funds for the scheme will be arranged under the National Animal Disease Control Programme.
Apart from this, separate dog shelters will also be built for those dogs which are more aggressive, sick or injured so that they do not become a threat to the common people and they can also be taken care of. It is expected that this step of the government will provide great relief to the people of the state from the problem of stray dogs.
