
Before the general budget, there was a huge jump in the market and the Sensex, Nifty closed with a gain of about 1 percent. Midcap and smallcap stocks saw a good rise, while all regional index of BSE remained in green mark. FMCG, realty and auto stocks were seen shopping. Banking, metal index closed with edge. Both Sensex and Nifty were seen in the green mark when the market was closed at 3.30 pm. The Sensex rose 740 points to close at 77,500, while the Nifty increased by 258 points to close at 23,508.
Top losers and top
Tata Consumer, Trent, Bharat Electronics, Nestle India, L&T were the most profitable in the Nifty. While Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, JSW Steel were the most declining shares in Nifty.
All regional indices closed in green mark. Consumer durables, oil and gas, electricity, PSU, realty and FMCG index closed with a 2 percent gain. On the other hand, the capital goods index increased by 4 percent.
