Referring to the ongoing assembly elections (second phase) in West Bengal, Shri Maurya expressed confidence that the people there are eager for change. “In the second phase of voting in West Bengal, the people are voting overwhelmingly for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The people there have rejected appeasement and have chosen development. It is clear that this time the BJP government is going to come in Bengal.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya, while attacking the opposition parties strongly, said that the mentality of Samajwadi Party and Congress has always been anti-women. He said that the heads of these parties never want women to register their presence in the House or become empowered through politics.
Shri Maurya said that the opposition parties are against women coming to the House and their participation in policy-making. They want to limit women only to the vote bank. The Deputy Chief Minister alleged that the policy of SP and Congress has been to keep women ‘oppressed’. They do not want women to become independent and contribute to the development of society and nation. Dependent mentality: He further said that the mentality of the leaders of these parties is to always keep women dependent on others, so that their political dominance remains.
Shri Maurya clarified that the present government is fully committed to the all-round development of women and making them self-reliant. It is the priority of the government to give respect to ‘women power’ and their rightful place in the House, whereas the opposition is only working to create obstacles in their path.
