School bus accident kannur: A girl studying in class 5 has died after a school bus overturned in Valakkai in Kannur district of Kerala on Wednesday. As soon as the bus overturned, the girl was thrown out and crushed to death. Meanwhile, 15 other students have been injured. The condition of one of the injured children is said to be critical.
According to the information received, the bus of Chinmaya School in Karumathur of Kannur district was carrying 20 students when it met with an accident. While the bus was moving and going down a slope, the bus driver lost control of the steering and the bus overturned.
An official of the Information Department of the Kerala Government said that ’15 children have been injured in this accident. The incident took place near Valakkai bridge when the bus lost control of steering while coming down the slope and hit a pillar, injuring two people.’
Some eyewitnesses say that the brakes failed in this accident. However, the police is investigating the matter. At the same time, the local people immediately took the injured students to the hospital for treatment.
The entire incident was captured in CCTV. It can be clearly seen in the CCTV that when the bus got hit, a girl jumped out of the window and the tire of the bus ran over her. In this accident the girl died on the spot. The student has been identified as Nedhya, who studies in class 5. Police have registered a case of accident and careless driving and are investigating further.
