News India Live, Digital Desk: Sawan Special 2025: The arrival of Holy Sawan month 2025 once again gives us an opportunity to know about Lord Shiva’s glory and various forms. There is a very special identity in the forms of Mahadev, the semi -chandrakara moon is seated on his forehead, due to which he is also called ‘Chandrashekhar’. This beauty of the moon on Shiva’s forehead is not just a beauty, but a deep mythology and symbolic significance is hidden behind it. On this auspicious occasion of Sawan, let us know why Shiva ji holds Chandradev on his head. According to the Poornik Katha, Daksha Prajapati had 27 daughters, who were married to Chandradev. Among all these, Rohini was the most loved to Chandradev. Other daughters became angry with this and complained to their father Daksha. Daksha Prajapati explained to Chandradev several times, but he did not desist from his habit and only kept paying attention to Rohini. Enraged, Daksha cursed Chandradev that he would gradually decay, and all his arts would be destroyed. Due to the influence of Shrap, Chandradev started to decrease and his sharpness started to decrease. It also had a terrible effect on Earth, because the Moon gives life to medicines, flora and organisms. All the gods were worried and started thinking of measures to save Chandradev. Finally he took refuge in Lord Shiva with Chandradev. Shiv ji was moved by the prayers of the gods and the plight of Chandradev. He did not completely free the moon from his curse, because it was also necessary to respect Daksha’s curse. Rather, he held the moon on his forehead. Due to Shiva’s forehead, the moon stopped to decay and he slowly started attaining his arts. This crescent was installed on his forehead like a special jewelery. The story also has many symbolic meanings. Wearing the moon by Shiva shows his omnipotent and patron form. This shows how Mahadev is able to liberate every problem of life, even time and decay. Moon is also a symbol of mental peace and mind. Wearing Shiva ji also teaches that by controlling mental peace, a person can progress on the spiritual path. Remembering such glory of Shiva in the month of Sawan gives us spiritual peace and stability.
