
The wait of the devotees of Lord Bholenath is over. The most beloved month of Saavan, the most beloved month of Lord Mahadev of Gods, has started from Thursday, 30th July 2026 in the auspicious combination of Ayushman Yoga and Shravan Nakshatra. This time the month of Sawan will last for 31 days, which will end on 28th August. Throughout the month, Shiva devotees observe fast, perform Jalabhishek and chant special mantras to seek the blessings of their deity. There is a religious belief that by worshiping Bholenath with a true heart in Sawan, all the wishes of life are fulfilled and happiness and prosperity reside in the house.
Sawan 2026: Dates of 4 Monday and 4 Mangala Gauri Vrat
This year, 4 Mondays and 4 Mangala Gauri fasts are being observed in Sawan. Sawan Monday fast can be observed by both men and women, whereas Mangala Gauri fast is observed mainly by married women and unmarried girls.

Those fasting for the first time must keep these 8 rules in mind
If you are resolving to observe Monday fast for the first time in Sawan this year, then it is considered very important to follow these important rules mentioned in the scriptures:

Integrity and cleanliness: Stay away from non-vegetarian food, alcohol, smoking and any type of Tamasic food throughout the month of Saavan.

Following celibacy: Maintain purity of mind, words and deeds throughout the month and follow the rules of celibacy sincerely.

Method of resolution: On the first Monday of Sawan, wake up early in the morning and take bath, wear clean clothes and take water and Akshat in hand and take a pledge to fast and worship Lord Shiva.

Pooja Samagri: Anoint Shivling with water and raw cow’s milk. After this, offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Bhang, Shami leaves, white sandalwood, honey, Akshat and flowers.

Rules for reciting mantra: At the time of puja, men should chant ‘Om Namah Shivay’ and women should only chant ‘Namah Shivay’. After this, recite Shiv Chalisa and perform Aarti.

Evening worship: In the evening, light a lamp of pure ghee in Shivling or home temple and meditate on Bholenath.

Importance of Rudrabhishek: During Sawan, if possible, get Rudrabhishek done by a learned Pandit on any Monday or auspicious date, it is considered extremely fruitful.
