From morning tea to dinner, from buying vegetables to paying electricity bills… our lives now seem incomplete without UPI. It is so easy that now the habit of keeping cash in the purse has been lost.
But, as fast as UPI has become our habit, the thieves committing online fraud have also become vicious. To prevent this ‘digital theft’ and to ‘lock’ your money more than ever, UPI New Rules 2026 have been implemented.
If you also use Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or any other UPI app, then it is very important for you to know these new rules.
What has changed? (5 things useful for you)
Change 1: Now ‘double key’ will be imposed on big payments
- What is the new rule: Now if you are sending a large amount (like above ₹ 1 lakh) to someone, you may have to do another verification, not just the UPI PIN.
- What is the benefit to you: This will ensure that it is you who is making the payment and not someone else. This will reduce the risk of ‘high-value fraud’.
Change 2: Now no one will be able to deduct your money without asking!
Nowadays many apps take permission from us for ‘Auto Pay’ (automatically deducting payments).
- What is the new rule: Now before activating any subscription or Auto Pay, you will be clearly told how much money will be deducted and when. Not a single rupee will be deducted without your permission.
- What you benefit from: Your control over your bank account will be stronger than before.
Variation 3: Money went to the wrong account? Now refund will be faster!
Many times the money goes to someone else by mistake, and then it takes months to get it back.
- What’s the new rule: Now the refund process has been made faster and easier than ever, so that you can get your money back quickly.
Change 4: ‘Security guards’ on fraudsters
- What is the new rule:
- Now if there is any suspicious or fraudulent payment, you will get an immediate alert.
- If someone repeatedly enters wrong UPI PIN, his account will be blocked for some time.
- It will now be easier to identify fake payment requests coming from unknown numbers.
Change 5: ‘Balle-Balle’ of shopkeepers
- What is the new rule: Now after receiving payment, shopkeepers will not have to wait long for it to settle in their bank account. Payment settlement will now be faster and the problem of transaction failure will also be reduced.
What do you have to do?
You don’t have to do anything special! Bus…
- Always keep your UPI app updated.
- Do not accept payment requests from any unknown person.
- Never share your UPI PIN with anyone.
These new rules have not been brought to scare us and you, but to make our digital life even more secure.
