
The Indian Premier League (IPL) played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in the final match of 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs to win their first historical title. With this victory, RCB finally won the trophy after a long wait of 18 years and losing in the final three times, which made the dream of millions of fans including Virat Kohli.
After winning the toss, Punjab Kings decided to bowl first. Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 190 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. From RCB, Virat Kohli played the highest innings of 43 runs in 35 balls, including three fours. The initial batsman Phil Salt (16 runs) was dismissed early despite a good start.After him, Mayank Agarwal (24), captain Rajat Patidar (26) and Liam Livingstone (25) played small but useful innings. For Punjab, Kyle Zamison and Arshdeep Singh took 3-3 wickets, in which Arshdeep stopped RCB from reaching 200 for just 3 runs in the last over.
Chasing the target, the Punjab Kings team could only manage 184 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Punjab started well, Priyansh Arya (24 runs) and Prabhasimran Singh (26 runs) added 43 runs for the first wicket. However, RCB bowlers maintained pressure by taking wickets at regular intervals. Captain Shreyas Iyer did not bat and he was dismissed by just 1 run. Josh English played a fast innings of 39 runs, but his wicket fell at the critical time. In the lower order, Shashank Singh struggled brilliantly by scoring an unbeaten 61 in 30 balls with the help of 3 fours and 6 sixes, but he could not win his team.
On behalf of RCB, Krunal Pandya turned the match with 2 important wickets (Prabhasimran Singh and Josh English) for only 17 runs in 4 overs and was chosen as ‘Player of the Match’. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also took 2 wickets, while Yash Dayal, Josh Hazelwood and Romario Shepherd got one wicket each. This was RCB’s first IPL Trophy, which caused the team and their loyal fans joy.
