A total of 12 people have been arrested in this case so far. Meanwhile, the local court has sent the 12 arrested people on police remand till August 22.

On Wednesday midnight, the doctors were protesting on the road, but meanwhile a large number of people entered the hospital and vandalized it. They also beat up the protesting doctors. After the uproar in the hospital, the police came into action and so far 12 people have been arrested.
The accused were sent on police remand
12 people who vandalised RG Kar Hospital have been sent to police remand till August 22. Acting Judge of Sealdah Court Barija Chakraborty ordered the arrested people to be kept in police custody till August 22. However, the public prosecutor demanded police remand of the accused till August 28.
Earlier, the nurses staged a protest a few hours after miscreants vandalised a part of the hospital. The nurses protested against the vandalism and demanded proper security in the hospital premises. A protesting nurse said that such hooliganism inside the hospital is not acceptable.
Government property damaged in violence
Local police say that a large number of miscreants entered the hospital premises and damaged property. Policemen were also pelted with stones, following which the police had to fire tear gas shells to disperse the mob. The miscreants entered the premises with sticks, bricks and rods and caused extensive vandalism in the emergency ward, nursing station, dispensary and a part of the outpatient department (OPD) of the hospital.
During the uproar, the rioters broke several nearby CCTV cameras and vandalised the stage. Police said that a police vehicle and some two-wheelers were also damaged in the incident. Several police officers were also injured in the violence.
