Dhaka, August 13 (HS). Bangladesh's interim government chief Mohammad Yunus has said that the resignation of officials close to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is valid. Student leaders protesting against the Hasina government had warned them to resign.
“All steps have been taken legally,” Yunus told reporters on Sunday night. In the past few days, the country's chief justice, five judges and the central bank governor have resigned. Hasina resigned as prime minister last week and left the country. Yunus said the interim government's main priority is to restore the independence of the judiciary.
