New Delhi, May 23 (HS). The domestic stock market once again witnessed a record-breaking rise today. In today's trading, both the Sensex and Nifty indices reached all-time high levels and made a new record of all-time high closing. During the day's trading, the Sensex managed to jump more than 1,341 points from the low level and the Nifty managed to jump more than 415 points from the low level. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a gain of 1.61 percent and the Nifty closed with a gain of 1.64 percent.
During today's trading, except pharmaceutical and metal index, all sectoral indices managed to close strongly. Nifty's PSU Bank index closed with a jump of 1.05 percent. Similarly, Nifty's Financial Services, IT, FMCG and Realty index also traded strongly. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which BSE's midcap index closed with a gain of 0.58 percent. Similarly, the smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.27 percent.
Due to the record-breaking rise in the market today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 4 lakh crore. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 420.09 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Whereas on the previous trading day i.e. Wednesday, their market capitalization was Rs 415.94 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 4.15 lakh crore from today's trading.
Today, there was active trading in 3,945 shares in BSE in the day's trading. Of these, 1,822 shares closed with gains, while 2,010 shares were in decline, while 113 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,247 shares in NSE today. Of these, 1,043 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 1,204 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 26 shares closed with gains and 4 shares closed with decline. Whereas out of the stocks included in Nifty, 44 stocks closed in the green mark and 6 stocks closed in the red mark.
The BSE Sensex opened today with a marginal gain of 32.47 points at 74,253.53 points. As soon as the trading started, due to the selling pressure, the index fell to 74,158.35 points with a weakness of 62.71 points, but after this the market was completely captured by the bulls. Due to this, the movement of this index increased. Today, there was a strong buying throughout the day, due to which shortly before the end of today's trading, the index jumped 1,341.56 points from the lower level and reached an all-time high of 75,499.91 points with a strength of 1,278.85 points. However, in the end, due to selling due to intra-day settlement, the index slipped about 80 points from the upper level and closed at 75,418.04 points with a gain of 1,196.98 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty started trading today at 22,614.10 with a gain of 16.30 points. As soon as the market opened, due to selling pressure, this index also fell by 20.35 points to the level of 22,577.45 points, but after this, all-round buying started in the market. Due to this the index gained momentum. With the support of continuous buying in the market, this index jumped by 416.15 points from the low level and reached the highest level of 22,993.60 points with a gain of 395.80 points. After the whole day's trading, Nifty closed at 22,967.65 points with a gain of 369.85 points.
After the day's buying and selling, among the big stocks of the stock market, Adani Enterprises 7.84 percent, Adani Ports 4.73 percent, Maruti Suzuki 3.22 percent, Larsen & Toubro 3.60 percent and Axis Bank 3.49 percent were included in the list of today's top 5 gainers. On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation 3.80 percent, Sun Pharmaceuticals 2.87 percent, Hindalco Industries 1.13 percent, Coal India 0.88 percent and NTPC 0.41 percent were included in the list of today's top 5 losers.
