Rail travel from Ranchi to Tata and Barkakana is set to become superfast; the laying of a double line will save hours of travel time. Rail travel from Ranchi to Tata and Barkakana will be superfast, laying of double line will save hours of time.

There is very good news for the railway passengers of Jharkhand. Now work is going to start rapidly on the railway routes passing through Ranchi, so that in future trains will be able to run at a speed of 120 to 160 kilometers per hour. Railways has completed preparations for doubling of Muri-Chandil and Muri-Barkakana railway lines and its DPR has been sent to the headquarters for approval. After the completion of this project, the journey of passengers will not only be comfortable, but there will also be huge savings in travel time.

Muri-Chandil Line: It will be very easy to reach Tata from Ranchi

Doubling of Muri-Chandil railway route is no less than a big gift for the passengers going from Ranchi to Tata (Jamshedpur). For the doubling of this 58 kilometer long route, a DPR worth approximately Rs 847 to 890 crore has been prepared and sent to the Railway Headquarters. The amount will be allocated as soon as the project is approved. Doubling of this route will have a direct impact on train timings. At present, Mail-Express and passenger trains take 3 to 5 hours to cover the distance of 166 kilometers between Ranchi and Tata. After doubling, this journey will save 45 minutes to 2 hours.

Direct connection to Howrah-Mumbai network and bypass facility

This important project will not be limited to Muri-Chandil only, but it will also be connected to the under construction Third and Fourth Line. With this, the Ranchi-Muri-Chandil rail line will be directly connected to the Howrah-Mumbai rail network. This connectivity will not only increase the movement of trains, but will also make many alternative trains available to the passengers. Under the project, a bypass will also be constructed from Illu to Silli. Presently Tata bound trains have to stop at Muri station to reverse the engine (change direction), which leads to wastage of time. This problem will be solved by construction of bypass.

Muri-Barkakana line will also be doubled, connectivity with Delhi route will increase.

The process of doubling of Muri-Barkakana railway line under Ranchi Railway Division has also been expedited. The final report of the DPR for the doubling of this 60 kilometer long railway line has also been sent to the Railway Headquarters. The project, costing Rs 853 crore, is expected to be approved soon. This route will be directly connected to the Delhi route, which will increase the speed and number of trains. After the implementation of these two projects, the picture of Jharkhand’s rail network will completely change and passengers will be able to reach their destination in less time.
