News India Live, Digital Desk: Once again the action of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has created a stir in the politics of Punjab. On Monday morning, ED teams raided the Ludhiana residence and other locations of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora. This raid, conducted to unearth the alleged scam related to liquor policy and land, has created a stir within the Bhagwant Mann government and the Aam Aadmi Party.
Action started early in the morning, many hideouts under siege
According to sources, different teams of the Central Investigation Agency reached the house of MP Sanjeev Arora and the business premises associated with him at 6 in the morning. During the operation, a large number of paramilitary forces have been deployed outside the house. It is being told that this raid has been done simultaneously in many cities including Jalandhar and Ludhiana. This action of ED is being linked to the liquor policy of Delhi and Punjab as well as some suspicious real estate deals.
AAP’s counterattack: Accused of political vendetta
Aam Aadmi Party has reacted sharply to this action taken against MP Sanjeev Arora. Senior leaders of the party say that the central government is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition by misusing the investigating agencies. Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh have termed it as ‘dictatorship’ and said that BJP is scared of the increasing popularity of ‘AAP’ in Punjab, hence the elected representatives are being targeted.
Who is Sanjeev Arora and what is the whole matter?
Sanjeev Arora is Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab and is counted among the big businessmen of the state. He is also the owner of Ludhiana’s leading textile and real estate group. This raid of ED is said to be related to some old land scam or money laundering case, although no official statement has been issued by the agency yet. Big revelations are expected in this investigation in the coming hours.
Conflict will increase in Punjab politics
The activity of ED and Vigilance Bureau has increased significantly in Punjab in the last few months. On one hand, the state government is tightening its grip on opposition leaders, while on the other hand, central agencies are opening a front against AAP leaders. After this action against Sanjeev Arora, the political conflict is likely to intensify from Punjab Assembly to the streets.
