Political Career: Tamil Nadu veteran BJP leader CP Radhakrishnan becomes Vice Presidential candidate for NDA

News India Live, Digital Desk: Political Career: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has declared Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the upcoming Vice Presidential election. This announcement was made after the meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party Parliamentary Board in the presence of senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. CP Radhakrishnan is identified as a ground -level leader of Tamil Nadu who has experienced more than four decades in his public life. Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan was born on 20 October 1957 in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. He started his public life as a volunteer of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In 1974, he became a member of the State Executive Committee of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in Tamil Nadu. In 1996, Radhakrishnan was appointed as Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu. Radhakrishnan was elected to Coimbatore twice in 1998 and 1999. During his parliamentary tenure, he served as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Textiles and a member of the Public Undertakings and Finance Committees. He also served as BJP state president in Tamil Nadu from 2004 to 2007. During this time, he led the 93 -day, 19000 km Rath Yatra, whose main center was to connect rivers, end untouchability, implement uniform civil code, fight terrorism and address issues of drugs. As the chairman of the Care Board from 2016 to 2020, he oversee export data of record ₹ 2,532 crore. From 2020 to 2022, he was an all -India in -charge of BJP for Kerala.
