News India Live, Digital Desk: For the general public troubled by the rising prices of petrol and diesel in the country, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is working on a scheme which will completely change the game of fuel in the coming times. Gadkari’s ‘E100’ (100% ethanol) vision will not only reduce pollution but will also change the fortunes of farmers. Now the day is not far when your vehicles will be seen running completely on indigenous fuel ‘Ethanol’.

What is Gadkari’s ‘E100’ vision?

Nitin Gadkari’s goal is to make India self-sufficient in fuel. At present we import a large part of our needs from other countries, due to which a lot of money goes out of the country. ‘E100’ simply means 100 percent ethanol fuel. The government’s aim is that in the coming time, there should be separate pumps for ethanol along with petrol at petrol pumps, where drivers can fill cheap and pollution-free fuel.

Farmers will get direct benefit

Ethanol is mainly made from sugarcane juice, corn and spoiled grains. Gadkari says that if ethanol production increases in the country, the farmers of India will directly benefit from it. Farmers will now not only become ‘food givers’ but also ‘energy givers’. This will strengthen the rural economy and reduce oil dependence on foreign countries.

Travel will become cheaper, pollution will reduce

The price of ethanol is expected to be much lower than petrol. If vehicles start running on 100% ethanol, the fuel burden on the common man’s pocket can be halved. Additionally, ethanol is a ‘clean fuel’, producing very low carbon emissions. This will be of great help in dealing with the problem of pollution in big cities like Delhi-NCR.

Instructions to automobile companies

Nitin Gadkari is continuously appealing to vehicle manufacturing companies to make ‘flex fuel’ engines. Companies like Toyota, Suzuki and Tata have already started work in this direction. Vehicles with flex engines will be able to run smoothly on ethanol mixtures ranging from 20% to 100%. This vision is likely to gain further momentum in the upcoming budget and government policies.
