
In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Sawan month has special religious significance, which is known as ‘Shravan Putrada Ekadashi’ and ‘Pavitra Ekadashi’. This holy fast is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that by observing this fast with true heart and rituals, the wish of having a child is fulfilled and the troubles in the life of the child are removed. This time many very rare and auspicious yogas are being formed on Sawan Putrada Ekadashi, due to which the importance of this fast has increased even more. However, the rules of Ekadashi fast are extremely strict, and even a small mistake committed inadvertently can deprive one of the full fruits of the puja.
Religious significance and virtuous results of Sawan Putrada Ekadashi
According to Padma Purana and Bhavishyottara Purana, joint worship of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva in the month of Sawan gives results. When Ekadashi falls in the holy month of Saavan, its spiritual impact is doubled. For those couples who are deprived of the happiness of children or whose children are facing obstacles in their career and health, this fast is considered as fruitful as Kalpavriksha. On this day, worshiping Goddess Lakshmi along with ‘Narayan’ form of Lord Shri Hari brings happiness, peace and unbroken good fortune to the house.
Avoid these 5 major mistakes during fasting
To get the full benefits of Ekadashi fast, some special prohibitions have been mentioned in the scriptures, following which is considered mandatory:

Do not consume rice and grains: Eating rice on the day of Ekadashi is considered a great sin in the scriptures. Along with this, completely avoid Tamasic food like pulses, grains, lentils and onion-garlic.

Don’t make the mistake of breaking Tulsi’s party: Tulsi Dal is mandatory in the worship of Lord Vishnu, but plucking Tulsi leaves on the day of Ekadashi is strictly prohibited. Break the Tulsi Dal required for the puja and keep it on Dashami Tithi only.

Distance from anger, lies and arguments: Ekadashi is not only fasting on food but also restraint of mind. On this day, do not criticize anyone, do not use abusive words and do not allow an atmosphere of distress or unrest to be created in the house.

Cutting hair, nails and shaving prohibited: Getting hair cut, shaving or cutting nails on this holy date is considered inauspicious. Apart from this, excessive use of oil or soap on the body should also be avoided.

Avoid sleeping during the day: Laziness and sleeping during the day should be avoided on the day of Ekadashi. Even at night, meditating on Lord Vishnu, doing bhajan-kirtan or staying awake by reciting Vishnu Sahasranama is considered to be the most fruitful.
Method of worship of Lord Vishnu and rules of Parana
Wake up in the morning during Brahma Muhurta, take bath and wear yellow clothes. Make an altar by sprinkling Ganga water in the home temple and install the idols of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi. Offer Panchamrit, yellow flowers, yellow sandalwood, seasonal fruits and Tulsi leaves and light incense sticks. Chant the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya’ at least 108 times and listen to the fast story of Putrada Ekadashi. Next day, after sunrise on Dwadashi Tithi, break the fast by giving donations to Brahmins as per your capacity and eating satvik food.
