News India Live, Digital Desk: A big and much awaited news related to the politics of Jharkhand has come out. The state government has made it clear that the upcoming Panchayat elections in the state will be conducted on time only. The most important thing is that this time the Other Backward Classes (OBC) will be given the benefit of 27 percent reservation in the elections. Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh officially announced this decision after a review meeting of the department. This step of the government is being considered as a masterstroke, because for a long time the OBC community was vocal about the demand for reservation.

The way for reservation is clear after ‘triple test’

Putting an end to the legal complications regarding OBC reservation in Panchayat elections, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh said that the government has kept in mind all the technical aspects and procedures of ‘triple test’. He said that the decision to give 27 percent reservation has been taken on the basis of the report and data of the Backward Classes Commission. The Minister has directed the officials that the work of revision of voter list and delimitation of wards should be completed on war footing so that the proposal can be sent to the Election Commission on time.

Development of villages will get new momentum

The Minister stressed that timely holding of Panchayat elections will give impetus to rural development schemes. He said that the obstacles faced in the allocation and utilization of 15th Finance Commission funds due to lack of elected representatives will now be removed. Deepika Pandey Singh said, “Our government is committed to strengthening grassroots democracy. By giving their rights to the OBC category, we are bringing the concept of social justice to the ground.” After this announcement, election activity has intensified in rural areas.

Panic in the opposition camp, parties busy preparing

The call of Panchayat elections in Jharkhand and the announcement of 27% OBC reservation have forced the opposition parties to change their strategy. While BJP and other parties are calling this decision a late step, the ruling alliance is presenting it as a big victory. Experts believe that the results of Panchayat elections can prove to be the semi-finals of the upcoming assembly elections. At present, the Rural Development Department has sent letters to the districts asking them to prepare a blueprint for election preparations.
