Champions Trophy 2025 is to be held in Pakistan. It will be organized in the month of February-March. Amidst the news of Team India not going to Pakistan, the danger of losing the tournament is also looming. In view of this, Pakistan Cricket Board gave a new offer to BCCI. A report has claimed that PCB has written a letter to Team India and offered to return to India on the same day after playing the match. Now the Indian Board has rejected this claim. He says that BCCI has not received any such letter from PCB.
BCCI gave clarification
According to a report, PCB said that if Team India has any security concerns and it does not want to stay in Pakistan. Therefore he can establish his base camp in Mohali, Chandigarh or New Delhi. And after every match the Indian team can return to its camp. Now another report has claimed that a senior BCCI official has denied receiving any such offer. India is just a few kilometers away from Lahore. In view of this, PCB gave BCCI a new option to return to India after every match.
Pakistan has not hosted any ICC tournament since 1996. This time he is desperate to win the Champions Trophy. For this, PCB has handed over the schedule of the tournaments to be held in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi to ICC. The Pakistani board is spending crores of rupees and has promised to organize a world class event. But the final decision lies with the Government of India only.
What did the ECB say?
ECB President Richard Gould and Richard Thompson recently met PCB officials. Both talked about hosting the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the participation of the Indian team in it and the role of Jai Shah. He said that India's exclusion from the Champions Trophy is not in the interest of cricket. He believes that an Indian team is necessary to protect the broadcasting rights. If India does not come then other options like hybrid model will be considered. But no other team can participate in this tournament in their place.
