During this extremely complex and delicate operation that lasted for several hours, the surgeons successfully removed several liters of fluid and a huge cyst weighing about 10 to 15 kilograms from the woman’s stomach, while preserving other vital internal organs of the woman. After the surgery, the woman’s condition was declared stable and the doctors clarified that if the operation was not done in time, rupture of the cyst inside the stomach could have caused fatal sepsis and internal bleeding.

Fluid filled sacs in the ovaries are called ovarian cysts. In most women, small cysts form during the menstrual cycle and dissolve on their own after some time, which are called ‘functional cysts’. However, in some cases—such as ‘mucinous cystadenoma’ or ‘serous cystadenoma’—these cysts do not heal on their own, but instead continue to fill with fluid and a gelatinous substance.
