Outcry in Pakistan due to India’s strict stance on Indus River water! Frustrated Pak Army barks to ‘take every step’ India’s tough stance on Indus River water has caused uproar in Pakistan! An exasperated Pakistani army threatens to take “every step.”

Tension between India and Pakistan over the decades-old Indus Water Treaty has reached its peak. The strict steps taken by the Indian government after the Pahalgam terrorist attack have created a stir in Pakistan. Taking a tough stance, India has stopped the water of Indus River flowing towards Pakistan. Pakistan Army, shocked by this masterstroke of India, has now resorted to open threats.

Emergency meeting of corps commanders chaired by Asim Munir

On Monday, a high-level meeting of corps commanders was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi under the chairmanship of Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir. The issue of Indus Water Agreement directly resonated in this meeting. The Pakistani Army has issued a provocative statement saying that it is fully determined to take all possible steps to give Pakistan its ‘rightful share’ of the waters of the Indus River.

In this meeting, the decisions taken in the meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) on April 24, 2025 were also cited. The Army clearly said that it will not shy away from taking any action against India on this issue as per the instructions of the government and inspiration of the people.

Why did India take the strict step of stopping water?

Actually, the root of this entire controversy is Pakistan sponsored terrorism. Last year, the patience of the Indian government was broken after the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025. Terror and talks (or agreements) cannot go together, under this policy, India took a historic decision and stopped the water of Indus River which was going to Pakistan under the agreement.

Irrigation and drinking water crisis deepens in Pakistan

The Indus River originates from the Himalayas and flows through India, quenching the thirst of large parts of Pakistan. There is an outcry in entire Pakistan since India’s decision to stop the water. A terrible irrigation crisis has arisen in the provinces of Punjab and Sindh, and a severe shortage of drinking water is being felt. Let us tell you that this historic agreement for sharing of Indus river water between India and Pakistan was made in the year 1960 under the mediation of the World Bank.

The jackal barks to hide his failures!

Defense experts believe that this threat by the Pakistani Army is just an attempt to divert the public’s attention from its internal failures. In the meeting of Corps Commanders, the Pakistani Army expressed satisfaction over its preparations, but also expressed deep concern over the terrorist attacks (TTP attacks) against Pakistan from the soil of Afghanistan. On one hand, Pakistan itself nurtures terrorism and on the other hand, being troubled by its own terrorists, it is unsuccessfully trying to put pressure on India.
