In view of this sudden and drastic change in the weather, IMD has issued special guidelines for devotees going to hill tourist places and religious pilgrimages like Chardham. Heavy rain and hailstorm can cause landslides and serious disruption in traffic on hilly roads. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has advised people living in plains and urban areas to avoid outdoor activities during storms. Due to heavy rains, dangerous situations like heavy waterlogging and traffic stoppage can arise in the low-lying areas of the cities, hence the administration has also been asked to be on full alert.

Amidst the scorching heat, everyone’s eyes are fixed on the arrival of monsoon. According to the latest bulletin of the Meteorological Department, the south-west monsoon had reached the Kerala coast on June 4 after a delay of three days from its normal date, but now it has started moving rapidly into many southern and eastern states of the country.
