Odisha on Alert Amid Rising Corona Cases: There is an increase in the cases of Covid-19 once again across the country, in view of which the Odisha government has also intensified its preparation. The state government has directed strict precautionary and surveillance measures to deal with the potential bulge of the epidemic. Currently, a total of 38 active cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Odisha, which are known in both RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) methods.
The state health department has given special instructions to all districts and medical college officials. They have been asked to intensive monitoring of all patients that show symptoms of influenza -like disease (ILI) or severe acute respiratory infection (SARI). In all such cases, an immediate Covid-19 investigation has been ordered. Along with this, it has been asked to increase the number of daily testing, new cases, positivity rates and the trends of patients admitted to hospitals.
Emphasis has been laid on keeping health facilities ready for any upcoming emergency. All hospitals have been asked to keep sufficient number of oxygen supply, beds, essential medicines and ventilator. In view of the increasing dangers of new corona variants like JN.1 across the country, it has been decided to sequencing genomes of all positive samples, especially those in Odisha, especially those CT value, to identify the variants and understand its spread.
The Health Department has also appealed to the general public to be vigilant.
