Odisha Assembly Election: BJP announces list of 112 candidates for Odisha Assembly elections

Odisha Assembly Elections: Along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections are also going to be held in Odisha. The Central Election Committee of BJP has announced the list of its candidates for this election. In which a total of 112 candidates have been announced. Let us tell you that there are a total of 147 assembly seats in Odisha Assembly.

At present, there is a Biju Janata Dal government in Odisha whose Chief Minister is Naveen Patnaik. There are 146 members in the state assembly. In the 2019 assembly elections, BJD won the maximum 112 seats. BJP won 23 seats. Nine MLAs of Congress and one of CPM won. An independent had won.

In Odisha, elections will be held simultaneously for all assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha seats in four phases from May 13. Alliance talks were going on between BJP and BJD but things did not work out due to lack of consensus on seat sharing.

Patnaik, a five-time Chief Minister of Odisha, assumed office on March 5, 2000 and continues to hold the post. BJD is hopeful that its party will win the elections this time also. BJD MLA Sudhir Samal says that the people of Odisha have decided to bless Naveen Patnaik by making him the longest serving Chief Minister of the country.

Assembly elections in Odisha will be held in four phases from May 13 to May 20, May 25 and June 1. For the first phase, nominations can be filed till 25th April and candidatures can be withdrawn till 29th April. Voting in the second phase is on 3rd May and 6th May. Apart from this, voting in the third phase is on 6th May and 9th May. In the last phase, candidates can file nomination till May 14 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is May 17.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are among the party's top star campaigners in the state. Odisha BJP vice president Golak Mahapatra said that mega rallies will be organized in all areas, in which apart from Modi and Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will also address.
