Be it taking a room in a hotel, buying a new SIM, or proving your identity in an office… till now we have been asked for photocopy of Aadhar card almost everywhere. But in this process there is always a risk of leakage of our personal data and fraud. To eliminate this problem from its roots, the government is soon going to implement a big and important rule.
Under this new rule, now no hotel, event organizer or any other institution will be able to ask for a photocopy of your Aadhar card. You will also be surprised to know that according to the Aadhaar Act, keeping a photocopy of someone’s Aadhaar card without any solid reason is already illegal. Now the government is going to strictly implement this rule.
So how will the verification happen now?
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar has said that now the era of paper-based verification will end. Instead, completely digital and secure methods will be used:
- QR Code Scanning: Your identity will be instantly verified by scanning the QR code present on your Aadhar card.
- New Aadhaar Mobile App: UIDAI is also bringing a new and very special mobile app, which will make this process even easier.
UIDAI’s new ‘super app’ is coming
UIDAI is currently testing a new mobile app which will change the entire way of verification. Its biggest feature is that it will be able to work without connecting to the central Aadhaar server every time for verification.
- Where will it be used: It can be used at airports, shops, hotels and many such places.
- Benefits only benefits:
- More security: This will almost eliminate the risk of your Aadhaar data being leaked.
- Less paperwork: No hassle of photocopying and filling forms.
- Easy Update: With this new app you will be able to update your address sitting at home.
- Add family: You will also be able to add those family members with this app who do not have their own mobile phone.
What will be the benefits to the common man?
This new system has been designed keeping in mind the Digital Personal Data Protection Act and it is planned to be implemented across the country in the next 18 months. This will give you several direct benefits:
- Now there is no need to carry a photocopy: The tension of getting the photocopy of Aadhar card done again and again and carrying it with you is over.
- Privacy and security: Your personal information will be more secure than ever before.
- Convenient and fast: Verification will be completed in seconds right from your mobile.
This is another important step towards Digital India, which gives priority to your convenience as well as the security of your personal information.
