News India Live, Digital Desk: Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Raj has launched a major ‘crackdown’ to improve the law and order situation in the state and improve the image of the police among the public. The DGP has instructed the captains of all the districts that now the policemen who show indiscipline in the police stations and are careless during working hours will be directly punished.

DGP’s ‘stern’ instructions: 4 big things

1. ‘Reels’ and social media banned on duty

It is often seen that policemen are seen watching videos or making reels on mobile while on duty. DGP has considered it as indiscipline. Now during duty hours the mobile can be used only for government and important communications. Using mobile for entertainment can lead to action up to suspension.

2. ‘No entry’ for brokers in the police station

The DGP has taken a tough stance on ‘middlemen’ and ‘middlemen’ active in the police stations for filing FIRs or for other work. Clear warning boards will be installed outside police stations. If a complaint of touting is received in any police station, the concerned police station officer (SHO) will be held directly responsible.

3. Control on extortion and bullying

The DGP has clarified that policemen who are harassing the general public by flaunting their uniforms are being identified. It has been made mandatory to bring decency in dealing with the common people and transparency in the disposal of complaints.

4. ‘Bullying’ and hooliganism will end

Talking loudly with the complainants coming to the police stations or threatening them will now prove costly. The DGP has directed that every complainant should be listened to seriously and given a receipt.

Why was there a need for this strictness?

In recent times, there were reports from many districts where policemen were being negligent while on duty and the dominance of touts had increased in the police stations. This step has been taken to save the declining reputation of Bihar Police and in the direction of ‘smart policing’.

There will be sudden checking of police stations

DGP Alok Raj has said that he himself and senior officers of the headquarters can do surprise inspection of any police station at any time. During this period, if any policeman is found watching reels or sitting with brokers, there will be a black mark on his service book.
