During this meeting, he first submitted the resignation of his old government and immediately after this, he also handed over the letter of support from the MLAs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other allies of NDA to the Governor.

Before going to Raj Bhavan, a meeting of JDU legislature party was held, in which all the MLAs chose Nitish Kumar as their leader and authorized him to take all the decisions related to government formation.
