New flyovers in West Delhi: If you too are troubled by the vehicles crawling in daily traffic jams on the roads of Delhi, then you can now heave a sigh of relief. The Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government has come up with a big masterplan to make the roads of the capital jam-free. The biggest headache of millions of people especially living in West and South-West Delhi is about to end.

Where and how will this network of flyovers be laid?

The government has announced 10 big projects to relieve people from traffic jams forever. Under this, three big flyovers will be built to connect two very busy parts of the Outer Ring Road. The work of planning and study of these flyovers has also started, on which about Rs 10.5 crore is being spent in the initial phase itself.

Let us know where these three lifeline flyovers will be built:

  1. Longest flyover (17.5 kilometres): This flyover will start from Keshopur depot and go till Haiderpur. This will be one of the longest flyovers in Delhi, freeing a large section from traffic signals and jams.
  2. Kanjhawala to Mangolpuri (10.7 km): This corridor will directly connect Kanjhawala Chowk to Mangolpuri, due to which the traffic in this entire area will become smooth.
  3. Sagarpur to Mayapuri Chowk (4.3 km): This flyover will connect Sagarpur to Mayapuri Chowk, which will provide great relief to the people in this industrial and densely populated area.

Not just a flyover, it’s a whole corridor

These three flyovers are just a glimpse. PWD plans to build an integrated corridor of about 47 kilometers long in 8 major parts of Delhi, which will include elevated roads, underpasses and footover bridges. It has only one purpose – to make your journey comfortable and fast.

Every little thing will be taken care of

While building these flyovers, every small and big technical detail will be taken care of. How will be the footpaths, how will the traffic in the surrounding commercial areas be managed, where will the traffic signals be installed, where will the crash barriers be – the design will be finalized only after a deep study on all these aspects, so that it is safe and convenient.

This is not a simple matter. Work is already underway on several flyovers in Delhi, including a 20-km corridor from Najafgarh to NH-48 near Kapashera. Overall, in the coming few years you will see the roads of Delhi changing and moving at a faster pace.
