There is a deep connection with India, studied with JNU

Sushila Karki was born in a peasant family in Birtnagar, Nepal. His early education also took place from there. He was deeply interested in law and politics. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) of India. After this, he turned to Delhi to do masters in political science and enrolled in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The time spent in JNU strengthened his thoughts. Later he also obtained a Bachelor of Law from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Chief Justice from a teacher and now Prime Minister

Sushila Karki started her career as a teacher, but after completing her studies, she started advocating. She soon became known for her honesty and fast-paced lawyer’s image. In 2009, he was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court directly. The historic day came in 2016 when she was sworn in as the first woman Chief Justice of Nepal. During his tenure, he gave historical decisions in many big cases related to corruption and did not spare even the big leaders, due to which he also faced impeachment.

How did the interim Prime Minister become?

Recently, ‘Jane Z’ (younger generation) in Nepal launched a big movement against social media ban and corruption. This movement became so big that the then government had to bow down. The protesting youth had lost their trust in the country’s political system and they wanted to see a person of a clean image in power. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes fixed on Sushila Karki, whose example of honesty gives the whole country. After the consent of all the parties, he was made the interim Prime Minister of the country, so that peace system could be restored in the country and fair elections can be held.
