Nationalized bank employees will be on strike on 24-25 across the country, know what are the demands

Bank Strike on 24-25 March: In these two days of March, banks across the country can remain closed. Following a failed meeting with the Indian Bank Union government, bank employees announced a nationwide strike on 24 and 25 March 2025. As a result, banks will remain closed on next Monday and Tuesday. The United Forum of Bank Unions, which led the top nine banking unions across the country, have announced the strike.

It is necessary to work for five days

The most important demand in all the demands of the banking union is to increase the working day to five days. Currently, it is mandatory to work six days a week. Claiming that this has increased the pressure of work on bank employees, the banking union has demanded to reduce the working days to five. Apart from this, lack of staff in banks is also the biggest issue. Lack of employees increases work pressure in banks and affects the quality of employees’ work.

Stress increased on employees

The banking union said, “We oppose job security, demonstration-based incentives in banks.” Because this causes unnecessary stress in the employees. In addition, we have also demanded to ensure safety of bank employees against exploitation and attacks by customers. Which is increasing in the banking industry these days.

Demand for government control on IDBI Bank

Bank Union is also opposing the disinvestment scheme of the central government at IDBI Bank. He has demanded that the government should have at least 51 percent stake in IDBI Bank. While there is a provision to sell 61 percent stake in IDBI Bank between the central government and LIC. This disinvestment process is likely to be completed in the next three-four months. Apart from this, it has also been alleged that the policies of the government are weakening public sector banks.

Millions of bank employees will participate in this strike, which can disrupt banking services next Monday and Tuesday. Customers are advised to handle the bank’s work in advance keeping this strike in mind. Because, if the demands of the union are not met, they can carry forward the strike in the future.
