In Sanatan Dharma, the four months of Chaturmas (Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi to Kartik Shukla Ekadashi) are considered extremely fruitful for penance, sadhana, purification and self-welfare. According to mythological beliefs, during these four months, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the sustainer of the world, remains engrossed in Yoga Nidra in Kshirsagar and during this period, service to nature and vegetation is considered equivalent to direct worship of God. It is mentioned in the scriptures that by planting specific spiritual plants in the courtyard of the house during Chaturmas and worshiping them daily, all the Vaastu defects of the house are eliminated, the planetary defects of the horoscope are pacified and happiness, peace and financial prosperity reside in the family.
1. Tulsi plant: Abode of Goddess Lakshmi and positive energy of the house. Lord Vishnu is extremely fond of Tulsi leaves and any worship or offering to him is not considered acceptable without Tulsi leaves. Planting a Tulsi plant in the north or north-east (northeast) direction of the house during Chaturmas is extremely beneficial.

Terms and Benefits: While coming out of the main entrance of the house, plant the Shami plant on the right side or in the west direction. Lighting a mustard oil lamp under Shami on Saturday evening provides complete protection from the inauspicious effects of Sadesati, Dhaiya and Rahu-Ketu.
4. Data (Madar) plant: Shiva’s grace and protection from evil eyes. White Madar or Shwetark plant is considered best for worshiping Lord Shiva in Chaturmas. It is believed that the family is not affected by any kind of hindrance or evil eye in the house where the Datika plant is located.

5. Aparajita (Vishnupriya): The divine plant that eliminates financial problems from the roots. Aparajita vine with blue flowers is called ‘Vishnupriya’ and ‘Lakshmipriya’. Placing Aparajita in the house during Chaturmas is considered to be a surefire means of attracting immense wealth.

Terms and Benefits: Place it in the north or east direction of the house. Offering blue flowers of Aparajita at the feet of Lord Narayana and Mother Mahalakshmi on Wednesday and Friday leads to continuous progress in business and freedom from the burden of debt.
Take special care of these things during Chaturmas Always plant these sacred plants in a clean and sacred place only. Never keep garbage, shoes or plants like thorny cactus around the plants. Do not pluck basil leaves on Sunday and Ekadashi and do not water the plants after sunset. Taking care of these plants with devotion throughout Chaturmas brings permanent prosperity and spiritual peace in the house.
