New Delhi: Globally telecom operators are under pressure due to continuous low returns (ROI) on investment. Which is only 3 percent. The Cellular Operators Association of India has expressed concern that the arrival of 6G technology may be delayed due to fall in revenue from 5G services.

According to the association, the positivity of getting returns on investment is now reduced. Therefore, telecom companies are expanding the infrastructure with some caution. Network rollouts for 5G have slowed down worldwide. If cases of 5G use do not increase in the next two to three years, then the planned launch of 6G services may be delayed by 2030.

The average ROI of Indian telecommunications companies is four percent. Representing three private telecom service providers Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, it is believed that the huge increase in data traffic generated from OTT has created a need for heavy capital investment by telecom companies to maintain telecom network.

The Director General said that Indian telecom companies have ordered orders for the purchase of graphics processing units. Given the need to handle heavy traffic generated on their network, they are planning to integrate them in network infrastructure soon.
