The sudden demise of Sudivya Kumar Sonu, who had achieved a special position in the party on the basis of his combative attitude, organizational skills and three decades long political loyalty, has shocked everyone to the core.
Sudivya Kumar Sonu, who was elected MLA from Giridih Assembly seat twice consecutively, made his mark in Jharkhand politics not on the strength of any political legacy, but by connecting with the grassroots and fighting hard. He took primary membership of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in the year 1989 and remained dedicated to the party with complete devotion till the last moments of his life. He also faced many electoral failures in the initial phase, but he never gave up and reached the assembly for the first time in the 2019 assembly elections by winning a landslide victory from Giridih Sadar seat. After this, he again retained his seat strongly in the 2024 assembly elections and took charge of important departments like higher and technical education, urban development and housing, tourism, art-culture, sports and youth work in Hemant Soren’s cabinet.
Sudivya Kumar Sonu was counted not only as a minister but also as a strong strategist of JMM and one of the most trusted loyal associates of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He was always seen standing at the forefront during internal and external political crises of the party, be it preparing the election strategy or the important responsibility of establishing communication on behalf of the government during the recent student movements regarding various examinations. Being deeply associated with the party since the days of Jharkhand movement, he was considered very close to both party founder Shibu Soren and Chief Minister Hemant Soren. After his demise, Chief Minister Hemant Soren shared an emotional post on social media and wrote that he has lost an elder brother and colleague, whose absence can never be filled.
The entire JMM organization is shocked and heartbroken by the sudden demise of Sudivya Kumar Sonu. Issuing an official message from the party, it was said that the transience of life shakes a person and till yesterday, the friend who was walking shoulder to shoulder with us, today only his memories are left.
