News India Live, Digital Desk: After the meeting held in the presence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, Congress has completely eliminated the possibilities of alliance with any party (TMC or Left party) in West Bengal. The party will now enter the electoral fray with its independent political identity.

Main reasons behind the decision (Why Solo?):

Falling morale of workers: Bengal Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that in the last elections (2021), the enthusiasm of the workers at the grassroots level had lost due to the alliance with the Left parties and others. The workers now want to fight under the flag of their party only.

Void Result 2021: In the last assembly elections, despite alliance with the Left parties, Congress could not win even a single seat. The party leadership believes that due to the alliance, the vote bank of Congress shifted towards other parties.

Mamta Banerjee’s tough stance: Recently, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also made it clear that TMC will contest the elections alone in Bengal. After this, Congress was left with no option but to go alone to save its existence.

Who attended the meeting?

This important meeting took place at the residence of Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi, which included:

Rahul Gandhi (Leader of Opposition)

Subhankar Sarkar (State President, Bengal Congress)

Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary (senior leader)

Ghulam Ahmed Mir (State in-charge)

Electoral equation: Now triangular or quadrangular contest?

With this decision of Congress, the Bengal election contest has now become very interesting and complex:

TMC: She is contesting the elections alone to deal with the anti-incumbency wave.

BJP: Under ‘Mission 2026’, it has appointed in-charges for all 294 seats and is engaged in aggressive election campaign.

Congress and Left parties: After Congress’s decision to fight alone, now all eyes are on the strategy of the Left Front whether they will also go alone or coordinate with any other small party.
