Karnataka HC Judge Delivers Sharpest-Ever Remark on Criminals; Flatly Refuses Bail to Student Accused of Rape ‘Karnataka HC judge’s sharpest comment on criminals, flatly refuses to grant bail to student accused of rape

India News Live, Digital Desk : The anger of the judiciary has once again erupted over the continuously increasing crimes against women in the country and the fearless courage of criminals. The Karnataka High Court has made the harshest and most shocking oral comment ever on law and order and the justice system during the hearing of a rape case. Expressing deep concern over the lack of fear of law among criminals, the court said that in today’s time the teeth of the law have completely broken because the criminals are not being dealt with strictly. Justice R. Nataraj even said during the hearing that if the hands and legs of those who commit crimes are cut off, then perhaps people in the society will learn to follow and respect the law. With this tough stance, the court outright rejected the bail plea of a 23-year-old engineering student accused of sexually assaulting his classmate.

Because our country is a democracy, everyone takes unfair advantage of it.

Justice R. The single bench of Nataraj was hearing this serious case. During the heated debate on the bail plea, the judge pointed fingers at the current state of society and the judicial system. He said that in today’s time, crimes are being committed in a very careless and fearless manner because there is no fear of punishment left in the minds of criminals. Citing the Indian democratic system, the judge said that since our country is a strong democracy, today everyone is engaged in laxity of laws and taking advantage of democratic rights. To explain the seriousness of this situation, the Honorable Judge gave the example of some West Asian countries (Middle East Countries), where very harsh and quick punishments are given openly for serious crimes which are soul-shattering.

Let him stay in jail so that he gets used to it, the judge got angry on the defense’s plea of ’two months in jail’

Inside the court, the defense lawyer appearing for the accused student argued that his client has spent almost two months in jail for a crime he did not commit. The lawyer also said that this entire matter is related to the alleged incidents of the year 2023 i.e. about three years ago. On this argument, Justice Nataraj gave a very strong and blunt answer and said that if you eat salt, you will have to drink water also. The judge further said sarcastically that let the accused remain in the jail for four-five more days so that he gets used to the air of jail, because who knows that tomorrow if he is found guilty in the trial and given a harsh punishment, then he will have to go back to jail again for a long time.

Sexually harassed by taking her to an apartment on the pretext of friendship, case registered after intervention of National Commission for Women

He is accused that on September 12, 2023, he had coaxed an old classmate of his and asked her to move into an apartment with him on the pretext of talking about friendship again. After taking her there, the accused seriously sexually assaulted the victim against her will. Scared by the incident, the victim woman had contacted the National Commission for Women (NCW) in New Delhi before filing a complaint directly with the local police. Only after strict instructions and intervention of the Women’s Commission, the local police showed promptness in this matter, registered an FIR and arrested the accused. The Karnataka High Court has now issued a strict notice to the state government in this entire matter and has fixed June 8, 2026 for the next detailed hearing of the case.
