Jharkhand is not only a treasure of minerals but also of beauty! New tourism policy will change the fortunes of the state from 2026, investors queue up

On the second day of ‘National Stakeholder Consultation 2026’ organized at the luxurious hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi, a big and historic discussion took place regarding the future of Jharkhand. The main theme of this session was ‘Destination Jharkhand – accelerating tourism investment and inclusive development’. Policy makers, big industrialists and tourism sector stalwarts from across the country unanimously agreed that now it would be a mistake to consider Jharkhand as a state of only coal and minerals. This state is now all set to become the largest and attractive tourist hub of Eastern India.

Tourism got the status of industry, more than 5 crore tourists arrived

The figures revealed in this great brainstorming are shocking and give hope. In the year 2024, a record 5.85 crore tourists arrived in Jharkhand, out of which 4.40 crore people came only for religious and spiritual pilgrimage. In view of this huge number of tourists, the government has given tourism the status of ‘industry’. With this big decision, the path for financial assistance and infrastructure development has now been completely cleared for private investors. The government is now moving beyond religious places like Deoghar or Sammed Shikhar and is working on unique projects like eco-tourism, adventure sports, water sports and the country’s first ‘mining tourism’.

‘Tourism Policy-2026’ is coming, skywalk and floating restaurant will be visible

To ensure that investors do not face any problem, Hemant Soren government is going to launch ‘Tourism Policy-2026’ soon. ‘Digital Single Window Registration System’ is being implemented to eliminate paperwork and red tape. With the coordination of ‘PRASHAD’ and ‘Swadesh Darshan’ schemes of the Central Government, roads and basic facilities are being brightened in the state. The government has offered bumper subsidies and attractive incentive packages to investors to build luxury hotels, resorts, ropeways, adventure skywalks and floating restaurants in the state.

New employment formula: 100 homestays will provide livelihood to 500 people

On this occasion, Tourism and Culture Minister Sudivya Kumar put forward the new thinking of the state. Explaining a very practical mathematics of employment, he said that a big five star hotel provides direct employment to about 200 people, but if we develop 100 homestays in every village, then about 500 families will get livelihood at their homes. With this thinking, the government is bringing ‘Homestay Policy-2026’, which will make Jharkhand the most favorite homestay destination of the country.

To give momentum to this mission running under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Cabinet Ministers Deepika Pandey Singh, Sanjay Prasad Yadav, Irfan Ansari and Shilpi Neha Tirkey were also present in this national consultation. Everyone resolved that Jharkhand will be made the most favorite, safe and eco-friendly tourist destination of Eastern India in a very short time.
