According to religious beliefs, when Shri Krishna was born, there was a special combination of Rohini Nakshatra in the sky, and when Rohini Nakshatra coincides with Ashtami Tithi on the day of Janmashtami, the virtue of this fast increases manifold. In the year 2026, Rohini Nakshatra will be effective on the night of 4th September, due to which the divinity of this festival increases further. Along with this, according to the Panchang, Harshana Yoga and other auspicious Yogas are being formed on this day, which are considered extremely fruitful for worship and meditation. From the astrological point of view, there will be no negative yoga or shadow of Bhadra on this day, due to which the devotees will be able to worship their deity with full devotion, peace and joy.
Right time and rules for breaking Janmashtami fast
The time of Paran is very important for the devotees observing fast so that they can get the full results of their fast. In the year 2026, the fast of Janmashtami can be broken after sunrise on the morning of 5th September. According to the Panchang, the fast can be broken any time after 6 am on September 5, whereas in some traditions the fast is broken only after the completion of Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra. Before breaking the fast, one should take bath in the morning and worship Lord Krishna again and offer him Satvik food. After this, one should break his fast by taking charanamrit and eating prasad. On this day, the fast can be broken by consuming fruits or milk and curd before taking food.
How to worship Laddu Gopal at home and what are the main ingredients?
On the day of Janmashtami, the temple of the house is thoroughly cleaned and purified with Ganga water and a grand tableau is decorated with flowers and rangoli. A beautiful wooden swing or cradle is decorated with flowers and brocade clothes to welcome Lord Krishna. The puja thali must include Panchamrit i.e. a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar, Ganga water, Roli, Akshat, yellow clothes, Tulsi Dal, butter, sugar candy, fruits, dry fruits and Panjiri. When Kanha is born at midnight, bathe him with Panchamrit, dress him in beautiful clothes and swing him in the cradle. After this, offer him a special offering of butter and sugar candy because Bal Gopal loves butter very much. Be sure to include Tulsi leaves in the offering because Lord Vishnu or his incarnation Shri Krishna do not accept any offering without the Tulsi group.
