New Delhi: Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who has been stuck in legal digestion for the money laundering case of Rs 200 crore associated with Thug Sukesh Chandrashekhar for a long time, has taken a big and shocking step today. He has withdrawn his petition from the Supreme Court, in which he had requested to cancel the case against him.
This is a very big U-turn, because earlier Jacqueline was putting all her strength to end this case. But now he has changed his strategy.
So why did Jacqueline do this?
In fact, Jacqueline had argued in the Supreme Court that she is a “victim” in this whole case and she is being implicated. He said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had called him only as a witness, but later made him an accused, which is wrong. On this basis, he demanded the cancellation of the case.
But when the matter was to be heard in the Supreme Court today, just before that, Jacqueline’s lawyers told the court that they wanted to withdraw their petition and they would continue the fight to prove their innocence in the lower court.
What will happen next? How much will it increase for Jacqueline?
Withdrawing the petition from the Supreme Court is clear – now Jacqueline will have to face the ongoing trial in Delhi’s Patiala House Court. He has to prove in the court that he had no wrong intention behind the expensive gifts and money received from Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
Jacqueline’s lawyers say that they will file a petition for allegations in the lower court and they are confident that they will prove their innocence. However, the ED case is very strong and claims that she has several evidence against Jacqueline, including expensive gifts and details of money transactions.
It is clear, the legal battle for Jacqueline Fernandez is not yet over. Rather, now this fight has become even more straightforward and difficult. After the shield of the Supreme Court is removed, now they have to answer every question of the lower court.
