Jabalpur, March 12 (HS). The renovation and rejuvenation work of Gadha and Ujar Purva stepwell was inaugurated by Dr. Mahesh Sharma and Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh and dedicated to the public. On the occasion of the inauguration, Padmashree Dr. Mahesh Sharma said that I work in the field of water conservation in Jhabua, a tribal dominated area. People come from far away places to see that work, but now I will tell people to see the work of water conservation. So definitely visit Jabalpur because understanding the importance of water, Rakesh Singh ji has taken up the task of renovating the historical and ancient stepwell which was full of dirt and mud and established it as a water temple.
Dr. Mahesh Sharma said that this is exemplary for everyone. He said that there would be many babris, reservoirs and water stotras in India which are yearning for such hands and that yearning has been fulfilled by Rakesh Singh ji. All of you have worked shoulder to shoulder with him. These two Babadis of Jabalpur light a lamp in the hearts of those who have compassion all over India. We should learn from the life of Lord Shri Ram what he did in Treta Yuga. When he went into exile, he went out into the forest and it was a forest of doubts and doubts and Ram stepped forward.
While addressing the program, Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh said that when I became an MP and saw the ancient sources of water getting depleted, it came to my mind that work should be done towards water conservation. I started working in this direction. In which, in 2009, I did the Jal Raksha Yatra for 20 days which went on in the entire parliamentary constituency, but Jal Raksha Yatra alone was not enough, even after this, every year I continued to do public awareness work for water conservation along with everyone. In which cleaning of ponds, construction of Geban Dam in Gomukh near Barela, work of cleaning Sangram Sagar and developing it as a tourist destination, organizing seminar for public awareness etc. were done. At the same time, it came to my notice that in our Jabalpur there are historical stepwells of the era of Maa Rani Durgavati, in which when I saw Radhakrishna Stepwell located in Garha area and Ujar Purva Stepwell located in Baldevbagh, I felt that they should be revived. He said that when I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji regarding the work of cleaning stepwells and water conservation and told him about the work of these stepwells, he told me that they should be named Jal Mandir and today the two stepwells of Jabalpur are known as Jal Mandir. I feel happy dedicating it to you in the form of a temple.
On this occasion, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh Annu, MLA Ashok Rohani, Dr. Abhilash Pandey and Santosh Varkade, BJP's Prabhat Sahu, villager Rikunj Vij, Kamlesh Aggarwal, Pankaj Dubey, Ratnesh Sonkar, Jitu Katare, etc. were present.
