Is Congress going to separate from RJD? Bihar leaders raised bitter questions on the alliance of Lalu and Tejashwi:

News India Live, Digital Desk: Politics of Bihar and ‘Khichdi’ both never cool down. Here it is difficult to say when a friend will become an enemy and when an enemy will embrace. But the news coming this time can shake the foundation of the Grand Alliance.

There is a strong discussion that there seems to be a rift in the years old friendship between Congress and RJD in Bihar. The Congress leaders who till yesterday did not get tired of reading the praises of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, today are asking in hushed tones (and some openly) “For how long will we remain RJD’s lackeys?”

Why are voices of separation being raised?

To understand the reason for this political discord, we have to go back a little. In fact, many local leaders and workers of Bihar Congress believe that by forming an alliance with RJD, Congress is getting less benefit and more loss.

These leaders argue:

  1. RJD’s ‘big brother’ attitude: RJD always acts arbitrarily in the alliance. Be it Lok Sabha or Assembly elections, Congress always gets less seats and that too, where it is difficult to win.
  2. Loss of party’s support base: Leaders feel that Congress is losing its own existence due to living under the shadow of Lalu and Tejashwi. In Bihar, the party has become just a ‘crutch’. The workers want the party to stand on its own, even if it means struggling in the beginning.

anger expressed in the meeting

It is reported that in some recent meetings, Bihar Congress leaders have expressed their grievances to the high command. He says that if we continue to depend on RJD like this, then one day Congress will be wiped out from Bihar. Many leaders are even saying that “It is a respectable defeat to contest elections alone, rather than being in alliance and winning in humiliation.”

Tejashwi Yadav’s influence and BJP’s eyes

On one hand, Tejashwi Yadav is doing his ‘A to Z’ politics and increasing his stature, while Congress feels that it is being sidelined.
On the other hand, BJP is watching this entire drama from a distance and enjoying. If this alliance breaks, NDA will directly benefit because the opposition votes will be divided.

What will happen next now?

At present, this is the demand of only the Bihar unit. It will be interesting to see what decision the central leadership (High Command) of the Congress sitting in Delhi takes in view of the old relations between the Gandhi family and the Lalu family.

But one thing is clear, a volcano is burning inside Bihar Congress. If this is not calmed down in time, then the picture of the Grand Alliance may be different in the coming elections. Will the hand leave the lantern? Only time will tell.
