US President Donald Trump Administration: US President Donald Trump is constantly taking a tough stand towards American educational institutions. In such a situation, one Indian and three other students have filed a case against the Trump administration after the end of their student immigration status this month. These four students were to be deported from the United States and now appealed to the court to rectify their legal status.
This incident has happened at a time when the Trump administration has started canceling the visa of international students due to activeness in the campus. Emails have been sent to many students including Indians to return to their country. Students accused of minor offenses such as theft or violation of traffic rules from shops are also being targeted.
Do you know what the whole matter is?
Chinmaya Devre of India, Jiangyun Bu and Q Yang of China, and Yogesh Joshi of Nepal, who are all studying at Ven State University, have filed a case against Homeland Security and Immigration Officers. He has alleged that his student immigration status in the student and exchange visitor information system (SEVIS) was incorrectly terminated without giving any notice or reason.
The SEVIS database contains information about non-resident students in the United States. This means that these students will no longer get legal status in the United States and will have to leave the country immediately. The lawsuit was filed by the American Civil Liberty Union (ASLU) on behalf of the students in the US District Court of Eastern District of Michigan.
The students urged the court to restore their legal status, saying, “We have neither been charged any criminal allegations nor have we violated any immigration law.” We are not active in any protests in the campus on any political issue.
