Status of shares of different segments
Attractive buying in financial services, media, oil & gas, FMCG, PSU and private bank stocks led the indices higher, while selling in auto, metal, realty, consumer durables led the indices to close in the red zone. IT and pharma remained flat.
Sensex and Nifty reached new highs on the back of gains in large-cap stocks. On the other hand, profit booking was seen in mid-cap and small-cap stocks. Financial and consumer goods stocks are moving higher due to factors including strong balance sheets, strong GDP growth estimates and low inflation. Market experts are hopeful that the overall market will improve due to positive factors at the global level as well.
