
News India Live, Digital Desk: India’s traditional PC market (desktop, notebook and workstation) increased by 8.1 percent year-on-year (YOY) in the first quarter of 2025, with 3.3 million units of ship, shown in a report on Monday. According to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), it is an increase in the seventh consecutive quarter for the PC market of India.
The notebook increased by 13.8 percent, While the workstation increased by 30.4 percent. The January-March quarter led to an 8 percent increase in premium notebook shipments ($ 1,000 and more), while the AI notebook continues to measure despite an impressive increase of 185.1 percent due to the low base.
The consumer segment increased by 8.9 percent in the first quarter of 2025 due to the sale of Republic Day and heavy shipments on all channels in March. The e-tail channel continued to grow at the rate of 21.9 percent in the first quarter. The report stated that the commercial segment increased by 7.5 percent with the increasing demand for commercial notebooks, mainly from enterprises.
Bharat Shenoy, research manager of IDC India and South Asia, said, “The consumer PC market increased in another quarter due to e-tail channel and concentrated offline expansion.” PC sellers are ensuring more access to customers across India by strengthening their offline appearance with new brand stores, increasing LFR (large format retail) appearance and offering online attractive discounts and cashback deals.
He said, “While strong shipments indicate positive market speed, the resulting growth in channel inventory presents a challenge in the near future.” HP Inc. led the market with a 29.1 percent stake in the first quarter of 2025 as it topped the chart in both consumer and commercial sectors. In the commercial section, HP won a 32.7 percent stake due to strong demands from enterprises, with a shocking growth of 60.6 percent.
Lenovo finished second in the first quarter with 18.9 percent stake. Lenovo recorded an increase of 36.4 percent and 33.8 percent respectively in both consumer and commercial sectors.
