Impact of international market and dollar

Fuel prices mainly depend on three factors. First, the price of crude oil in the international market, which has fallen significantly today. Second, the rupee against the dollar, which today 34 paise strong Is open. Third, tax (VAT) imposed by the central and state governments. This is the reason why the prices of petrol and diesel differ due to tax rates in different states.

Reason for price stability since last 2 years

Petrol and diesel prices in India have remained largely stable since the cut in excise duty by the central government in May 2022. Despite global fluctuations, government oil companies try to keep domestic prices under control so that the general public does not have to bear the additional burden of inflation.
