News India Live, Digital Desk: Crime in US Universities : ‘Homecoming’ weekend was being celebrated at the prestigious Howard University in Washington DC, the capital of America. The atmosphere was pleasant, there was activity everywhere and old and new students were coming together to make this special occasion memorable. But no one had any idea that these memorable moments would turn into a shadow of fear within a short time.

On Friday night, when the celebrations were at their peak, a flurry of bullets just outside the university campus left everyone in shock. The shooting, which took place near Georgia Avenue and Howard Place, created chaos in an instant. According to the police, at least four people were shot in this incident.

As soon as the news was received, the team of Metropolitan Police Department reached the spot and surrounded the entire area. According to initial information, the injured were immediately taken to the hospital. This incident added an unknown fear to the celebratory atmosphere. People were not able to understand what happened suddenly.

The incident took place when a large number of people had gathered at the university to take part in the Homecoming program running from October 19 to October 26. The police have started investigation and a suspect is also reported to have been detained in the initial action.

At present, the reason behind this firing is not clear, but this incident has once again raised serious questions about the safety of students around the campus in America. An occasion which was meant for happiness and memories, will now be remembered because of the fear of bullets.
