This is a big and proud thing for Indian cinema. Hollywood’s biggest and respected director Martin Scorsese recently held a special screening for the Indian film ‘Homebound’ in New York. The film has already won the hearts of people at the Cannes Film Festival and now it has been sent by India for the ‘Best International Film’ category at the Oscars.

On this special occasion, Martin Scorsese also had a long conversation with the film’s director Neeraj Ghaywan. Also present at the screening were the film’s heroes Ishaan Khattar and Vishal Jethwa, who play the roles of two best friends, Shoaib and Chandan, in the film. This film tells the story of the ups and downs in the lives of two friends and their friendship during the lockdown. This story is inspired by an article by Basharat Peer, which appeared in The New York Times in 2020.

The film’s director Neeraj Ghaywan shared this experience on social media and called it the “most special moment” of his life. He also shared a funny anecdote. Neeraj wrote, “I was very nervous when I sat in front of Scorsese. He noticed this and told me a funny old story to make me feel comfortable. He is really a wonderful and kind-hearted mentor.”

Not only Hollywood people but also supporters of Indian cinema attended this screening. Renowned filmmaker Mira Nair and South actor Siddharth were also present there to support ‘Homebound’ and its team.

Neeraj wrote a very heart touching thing at the end, “I don’t know what will happen next with this film, but sitting in front of Martin Scorsese is the biggest award for me.” ‘Homebound’ was released in India on 26 September and now the eyes of the whole world are on it.
