Historic Verdict by Jamshedpur Court: Jail Sentence for Convict in Gang Rape of 12-Year-Old Girl

A special court in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand has given a major and precedent-setting verdict in the two-year-old heart-wrenching gangrape case. The court has sentenced a strict life imprisonment (life imprisonment) to a culprit who made a 12 year old innocent minor girl a victim of lust in Jamshedpur’s Parsudih area.

This decision was pronounced by the court of ADJ-1 (ADJ 1) Kankan Pattadar on Thursday. The surprising thing is that the culprit was only 17 years old at the time of committing the crime, but considering the seriousness of the crime, the court did not give him any leniency.

Heavy fine along with life imprisonment, additional jail if not paid

Along with sentencing the convict to life imprisonment, the court has also imposed a financial fine of Rs 20,000 on him. The court has made it clear in its order that if the convict fails to deposit this fine amount, he will have to serve an additional jail sentence of one year. The prosecution strongly presented the victim’s side before the court, after which, on the basis of scientific and eyewitness evidence, the court gave the harshest punishment to the culprit.

Innocent girl was going to the field to call her brothers, dragged into bushes and gang-raped

According to the government lawyer and the prosecution, this heart-wrenching incident took place on the evening of January 11, 2024. In the evening, the 12-year-old victim was going towards a nearby field to call her brothers home. Meanwhile, the main accused Varun Das and his accomplice (a minor at the time of the incident), who were ambushed on the way, surrounded the girl after finding her alone.

Together they caught hold of the innocent child, pressed his face and dragged him towards the dense bushes nearby. There both the criminals gang-raped the innocent child one by one. The brutality was such that the innocent girl became unconscious due to pain, after which both the accused fled from there, leaving her in the same condition.

After regaining consciousness, the victim somehow reached her home crying and narrated her ordeal to her maternal uncle. After this, the family members lodged a named FIR against the accused at Parsudih police station. The police took immediate action and arrested both of them and sent them to jail. The case of Varun Das, the second main accused in the case, is going on in a separate court.

According to the information, Devanand’s wife had gone on a religious pilgrimage with her parents and Devanand was alone at home with his innocent daughter.

On Friday morning, when the daughter reached the room to wake up her father Devanand, she found the door completely closed from inside. When the neighbors who arrived after hearing the daughter’s cry broke the door, Devanand’s body was found hanging inside. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem and are looking for the reason for suicide.

Iqbal Khan’s body found in a locked house in Kapali, sensation spread
