
New Delhi: Delhi-NCR received heavy rains on Monday morning, which brought relief to the people recently, but there was also traffic jam in the capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has estimated continuous rain in the next 48 hours, which is expected to have light to moderate rains as well as thunderstorms and lightning.
In the weather bulletin released on July 6, IMD said: “Generally it will be cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thunder/electricity in the next 48 hours.”
The department also shared a broad meteorological update, stating that at present, the monsoon’s Dronika, Sirsa, Sirsa, Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Daltonganj, Bankura, Digha, extends north-east of the Bay of Bengal towards the southeast. This Dronika is a major monsoon feature that speeds up widespread rainfall throughout North India.
In addition to the current seasonal dynamics, a cyclonic circulation of an upper air has developed about 1.5 km above sea level over Himachal Pradesh and adjoining Punjab, which has further intensified rainfall activity in the region.
Monsoon havoc in Himachal Pradesh, death toll is 75
Meanwhile, there is continuous rains in Himachal Pradesh. According to data released by the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), the total number of deaths in the state has increased to 75.
Out of these, 45 deaths have been caused by incidents related to rainfall, sudden floods and house collapse. The remaining 30 deaths are involved in the accidental deaths due to road accidents, electric shocks and even a gas cylinder explosion during the damage caused by the storm.
Officers are on high alert in hilly state and northern plains, as weather systems are developing throughout the region.
