In a late night police encounter, a vicious criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 and who has become synonymous with terror in many districts got injured by a bullet and was arrested by the police. However, one of his associates managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.

The incident took place in Itiyathok police station area of Gonda. The Special Operation Group (SOG) of the police and the local police team had received information from the informer that Chuniya Pasi, a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, was roaming in the area along with one of his associates in an attempt to commit a major crime. On this information, the police took immediate action and cordoned off the area.
According to the police, when they signaled two suspects coming on a bike to stop, instead of stopping, they started firing at the police team and tried to escape. The police also retaliated in self-defense. During this time, a bullet hit the leg of the criminal riding the bike, due to which he got injured and fell down, while the other criminal fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.
Who is this criminal with Rs 25,000 reward?
The injured criminal caught by the police is not a small-time criminal, but a vicious robber named Chuniya Pasi, a resident of Pratapgarh. A reward of Rs 25 thousand was announced on him by Gonda Police. Apart from Gonda, Chuniya has been involved in several incidents of robbery and dacoity in many neighboring districts like Balrampur and Basti and was wanted for a long time.
What was recovered?
The police arrested the injured criminal and admitted him to the hospital for treatment. An illegal pistol, some live cartridges and a motorcycle used in the crime have also been recovered from the spot. The police is now busy searching for the second escaped criminal and is conducting a search operation in the area. Officials say Chuniya’s arrest is expected to bring to light several unsolved crimes in the area.
