Guidelines: Now police officers will not be able to meet direct guidelines from the lawyers of parties directly

News India Live, Digital Desk: A big step is being taken to bring transparency and fairness in police functioning in Uttar Pradesh. Now such guidelines are going to be issued soon after which police officers and employees will not be able to meet the lawyers of the concerned parties in criminal cases directly. This step is considered to be extremely important to prevent unfair intervention in legal processes and maintain the integrity of the judicial system. Extensive guidelines in this regard are being prepared at the DGP headquarters level. This initiative has been taken especially keeping in mind the sensitive and important matters in which external intervention or collusion is feared. The purpose of this rule is to prevent those confidential meetings and personal contacts between the police and the lawyers, which may be likely to affect the investigation of the case or get unfair advantage to any party. However, this does not mean that there will be no communication between police officers and lawyers. A fixed process will be created for necessary and legally valid communication. For example, when the police need to call a lawyer for questioning or require verification of a document, they will be informed only through ‘written notice’. This will ensure that every dialogue is transparent and recorded. These new guidelines will apply to all cases that are subject to investigation (investigation) or on which legal proceedings are underway. This will affect all the policemen from the ground level to the senior level. This change will ensure that the investigating officers can free from external pressure or personal effects and work with full honesty. This step will also be able to curb the allegations of bias and collusion arising over the police. This decision of the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Police Headquarters is considered an important initiative towards making law and order more strong and reliable.
