Under the second phase of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), the Central Government has launched ‘Free Toilet Scheme 2.0’. The objective of this scheme is to promote cleanliness in rural and urban areas and provide private toilet facility to every family. Under the scheme, eligible families are given financial assistance of Rs 12,000 directly into their bank accounts for the construction of toilets.
The amount will come directly into the account through DBT
The government has launched this scheme to ensure transparency. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Is connected to. The total amount of the scheme (₹12,000) is given in two installments. The first installment is sent when the construction work starts and the second installment is sent after the verification is done after the toilet is built. This eliminates the fear of middlemen and the beneficiary receives the entire amount.
Who can apply? (Eligibility conditions)
The government has set some standards to avail the benefits of this scheme:
Families without toilet: Such families who do not already have a permanent toilet in their house.
Economic situation: BPL card holders and low income families.
Special Category: Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and landless agricultural workers.
Priority: Female headed families or families in which a member is disabled.
restrictions: If you have previously availed benefits under any government scheme (like Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan or SBM Phase-1), you cannot apply again.

It is mandatory for you to have the following documents while filling the form:
Aadhar card (For proof of identity and address).
bank passbook (Account number and IFSC code must be clear).
active mobile number (To receive OTP and updates).
passport size photo.

Visit the official portal: First of all open the website of Swachh Bharat Mission swachhbharatmission.ddws.gov.in.
registration: By going to ‘Citizen Corner’ ‘Application Form for IHHL’ Click on. Register yourself here by entering your mobile number, name and state.
Login: After registration, login using your mobile number as ‘ID’.
Fill the form: Click on the ‘New Application’ tab. Fill your personal information, state, district, block and bank details carefully here.
Document Upload: Upload the scanned copy (PDF or JPEG) and photo of your bank passbook.
Submit: After checking the information, submit the form. you a Application ID Will be found, keep it safe for future.
Verification and Payment (Verification Process)
After the application is submitted, the block or gram panchayat level officer will come to your home and do the physical verification. They will see if you already have a toilet in your house or not. If the report is positive, the process of sending the amount to your account will be started.
